Ryan Choi
Ryan Choi is an award-winning composer and musician, writer, and literary translator, whose work has appeared in BOMB, Harper’s, Tin House, The White Review, The Yale Review and elsewhere. His translations have included the works of Jun Tsuji, Shinkichi Takahashi, Sanki Saitō, and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa.
His debut album, Three Dancers, won the 15th Annual Independent Music Award for Best EP (Instrumental/Contemporary Classical). He is also an Ernie Ball artist, and his music has been featured internationally on Clean Feed Records, Psych.KG, and at the Honolulu Biennial 2019.
Ryan, who lives with his family in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, where he was born and raised, has translated Old Age: The very short works and fragments of Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, which will be published by Paper + Ink in 2021.
